FULLY RUGGED: CLOUDBERRY CM-4004-MIL SERIES

Product Description

The Cloudberry MIL CM-4004 Series - Fully rugged Small Form Factor (SFF) 4-Port Ethernet Switch and GPS Time Synchronization Server for Tactical Air, Land and Sea Applications

The Cloudberry CM-4004F0-GMC-MIL is a Small Form Factor (SFF) fully rugged Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) accurate, software configurable GPS Time Synchronization Server (IEEE 1588 PTP v1/v2, NTP, IRIG-B, PPS) combined with a 4-port Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switch.

The Cloudberry CM-4004F0-GMC-MIL has been specifically designed to reliably provide high-performance connectivity for extremely demanding size, weight and power (SWaP) constraints in the harsh climatically and noisy electrical demanding environments (e.g. high altitude, extreme shock, & vibration, extended temperatures, humidity, dust & water exposure, noisy EMI, dirty power) on land, in the air and on sea. These include land vehicles, aircraft, UAVs and naval vessels.

The CM-4004F0-GMC-MIL addresses complexity enables modularity and provides growth, while delivering optimal performance for SWaP constrained military applications onboard vehicles and aircraft platforms.

The integrated GNSS module of the CM-4004F0-GMC-MIL delivers high integrity, precision timing in demanding applications world-wide. Support for BeiDou and GLONASS constellations in addition to GPS enables compliance with national requirements. The concurrent GNSS receiver can receive and track up to three (3) GNSS systems simultaneously. By default, the receiver is configured for concurrent GPS and GLONASS, including QZSS reception.

The CM-4004F0-GMC-MIL is designed for today’s modern, network-centric applications and further accommodates an OCXO with 0.1ppm. In addition to utilizing the integrated GNSS receiver the unit can be synchronized by an external reference, such as an external GPS receiver, via NMEA telegram and PPS input or an IRIG-B DC input source.

The CM-4004F0-GMC-MIL can also provide PPS output signals via GPO pins in one of the Ethernet connectors when enabled as a GMC or when operating as a TC/SC, which allows the operation of the unit also as an edge device to bridge time from a network based timing system to legacy timing sources.

The very small design with less than 2 pounds in weight, a <15 Watts typical power consumption and small MIL circular connectors, makes the unit well suited for low size/weight applications where electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is important.

The unit is designed to meet the environmental requirements of RTCA/DO-160G and MIL-STD 810G as well as the EMI/EMC requirements (Conducted & Radiated Emissions & Susceptibility) of MIL-STD 461F, MIL-STD-704F and 1275E. The extended temperature operation from -40 to +71C, resistance to high shock/vibration, humidity, altitude, and dust/water ingress makes the CM-4004F0-GMC-MIL an extremely reliable Local Area Network (LAN) switch solution for retro and forward fit installations.

The fully managed, Layer 2 Gigabit switch capability provides a powerful set of networking features, including support for IPv4 and IPv6 multicast traffic filtering according to static filters or IGMP snooping, Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), port control (speed / mode / statistics, flow control), Quality of Service (QoS) traffic prioritization, Link Aggregation (802.3ad), SNMPv/1/v2/v3 management, secure authentication (802.1X, ACLs, Web/CLI), redundancy (RSTP/MSTP) and port mirroring. The switch also supports Transparent Clock operation according to IEEE 1588 Std 2008 (PTPv2). Further, the unit also supports Built in Test (BIT), and data zeroization.

The CM-4004F0-GMC-MIL can be used for a wide variety of airborne, ground and sea applications, including:

Airborne
  • Observation payload (radars, optronics, electronic warfare)
  • Mission systems/communication networks
  • Flying test bench
  • Flight analysis
Ground
  • Satcom on the move
  • Communication networks
  • Mobile radios and C3I
  • Robotics

Key Features

The CloudberryMIL CM-4004-MIL Series offers a unique SFF fully rugged switches and GPS time synchronization server solution for Defense applications.

Time Distribution

The CM-4004-MIL Series is available as a reliable and accurate GPS Time Synchronization Server (IEEE 1588 PTP v1/v2, NTP, IRIG-B, PPS).

The CM-4004-MIL series is designed for the harsh aircraft and military environment. The platform offers a wide operating temperature range [-40 to +71Cº] with ruggedized military approved connectors. The unit is designed to comply to MIL-STD-810G, 461D and 1275D/E.
Interoperability The CM-4004-MIL Series supports all relevant IEEE Ethernet standards. Interoperability with other PTP devices is ensured based on extensive testing.
Interoperability The CM-4004-MIL Series offer full management based on HTTP, telnet, CLI or SNMP v1/v2/v3.
Version Translation The CM-4004-MIL Series, with its unique embedded PTP version translator feature, allows Slave Clocks of both PTPv1 and PTPv2 to co-exist in the same network. The need for PTP version translation is driven by the fact that PTPV1 (IEEE 1588 2002) is not backward compatible with PTPv2 (IEEE 1588 2008). Both PTP versions cannot co-exist in the same network unless a PTP version translator is used. OnTime Networks offers a cost efficient solution by introducing a PTP version translation feature into its products which helps to protect your PTPv1 investments. With the embedded PTP version translation you can use your legacy PTPv1 equipment alongside your new PTPv2 equipment without the need to upgrade or change configuration of old PTPv1 equipment.
Management The CM-4004-MIL series offers advanced traffic shaping and quality of service techniques
Version Translation The CM-4004-MIL series Gigabit Ethernet Switch offers full wire-speed performance on up to 4 ports
Security The CM-6228-MIL series supports to Enable/disable ports, MAC based port security, Port based network access control (802.1x), VLAN (802.1Q ) to segregate and secure network traffic, Radius centralized password management and SNMPv3 encrypted authentication and access security
